«One Belt – One Road»: Russian – Chinese Trade and Economic Cooperation was Discussed in the LRCCI

On March 27, 2017, the delegation of the People's Republic of China (PRC) visited the Leningrad Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The meeting was arranged by the Association of Chinese Entrepreneurs, the Association of Chinese Enterprises (Beijing), the International Trade Business Club and the Association of Young Entrepreneurs of St. Petersburg. Also, the Foreign Economic Relations Department of LRCCI took part in the meeting.

The Chinese delegation consisted of 16 people, among them: the assistant of the General Secretary of the Association of Chinese Enterprises (Beijing) Bao Xinyue, chairmen of major companies in Beijing, Dezhou, Liaoning, Jiangxi, Guangxi, Henan provinces, representatives of the Beijing Institute of Chinese Medicine Wu Yunsheng, and Nanking Normal University as well.

The participants discussed the main issues concerning the Russian – Chinese relations within the frameworks of the Chinese strategy “One belt – one road”. Also, possibilities on cooperation with companies from St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region to promote their products in the North-West territory of the Russian Federation with support of the Leningrad Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Arakelova Lilia the Head of the Foreign Economic Relations Department of the LRCCI told about the economic opportunities of the Leningrad region, also emphasized that the region is a leader on the economic development in the North-West of Russia.

During the meeting the participants demonstrated their interest in the negotiations. Everyone had the opportunity to ask questions. The participants were interested in cooperation on different spheres like textile (JSC "Yuan Bao"), agriculture (LLC “Hao Yuan”, Xin Luo Farms), medicine (Beijing Institute of Chinese Medicine Wu Yunsheng) and food industry (JSC "Pen Shi Bao"). It is important to emphasize the companies aimed to technology development: development and production of electric cars and robotics ("Ao Pu Ke Xing"), waste disposal stations ("Rong Fa Xin"). Academics expressed their interest to develop the scientific, educational and cultural exchanges of Chinese and Russian students.

As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to consider the possibilities of cooperation with representatives of each organization and the Association of Chinese Enterprises (Beijing) in detail.
