The meeting with representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shenzhen: enhancing cooperation

21 November 2016 the Leningrad region Chamber of Commerce and Industry was visited by delegation from the city of Shenzhen, Guangdong province, China. This meeting was arranged by Foreign economic relations department of LRCCI.  The delegation arrived with the aim to present the city and negotiate on development of a cooperation.

            The representatives of Chamber of Commerce and Industry Shenzheng, and also Iya Cyn, the chairman of the board of directors of the Son Fen energy company were a part of the Chinese delegation. From LRCCI side the head of Foreign economic relations department Lilia Arakelova told about the main work directions of Chamber and Department, and also presented St. Petersburg and Leningrad region as the development trade and economic center.

            Within the meeting the parties discussed various options for cooperation. It was noted that the development of transport connection between China and Russia is a great perspective in future. As Lilia Arakelova noted, today Leningrad region is a transport hub, which combines the railways, highways. Trough seaport “St. Petersburg” and several ports in LR, the delivery from China on a regular basis are performed. LRCCI subscribes that thanks to an advantageous geographical location of St. Petersburg adjoining on the European countries, the city represents itself a northwest branch of the Great Silk Way. The Chamber gives a full support to development and strengthening transport cooperation of two countries. Regional Integrated Center of Leningrad region was established on a base of Chamber, which works with many logistic companies and associations aiming at a cooperation with the Chinese partners.

            Shenzhen is located in Guangdong province in the south of China. Thanks to inflow of foreign and state investments the city for the short period of time turned into the large industrial, financial and transport center of China. Today Shenzhen is one of the most dynamically developing cities of China, the fourth from among the most competitive cities of the country, among the Chinese cities on export volume. Besides, the city is a special economic zone that includes many entities occupied in the field of high technologies and innovations. Shenzhen serves as the effective instrument of investment in the knowledge-intensive industries.

            During the meeting the Chinese colleagues invited to visit the International exhibition China Hi-Tech Fair technologies, which annually takes place in Shenzhen. The exhibition of high technology CHTF is one of the largest exhibition events in South-East Asia, in which about 3000 companies annually participate (5% foreign), and the number of visitors reaches 500000 people. The main purpose of the exhibition is ensuring access to the world and Chinese markets of technological innovations between countries in the field of scientific and technical achievement. The next exhibition is planned to be held in November 2017.

            On results of the meeting, the parties agreed to develop further contacts, to communicate and promote the establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation of the Russian and Chinese companies.
